Over the last couple of years I decided to buy flowers on a regular basis. I used to see flowers as a special treat, as if they were an unnecessary expense but when I realised that I had so many useless weekly expenses that could be cut – buying flowers was easily justified. It may seem insignificant to others, but they brought me so much joy that I made them a permanent item on my shopping list. Flowers are just great aren’t they? They are so beautiful and natural, the colours brighten up my day and they make me smile. They also make me feel proud of my home, friends call round and the house might be a tip but at least I have pretty flowers!

A few months ago I discovered Freddie’s flowers having been sent some as a gift for my Birthday. I was immediately impressed with the style, packaging and quality of flowers. I was even more impressed when the flowers lasted over two weeks! I had heard that they did a subscription service so I decided to check it out and give it try. It was really easy to set up and the flowers have never let me down. Now I use my calendar to control deliveries for as often as I like, and they are conveniently delivered right to my door, and can be left in a safe place so I don’t even have to be in when they arrive!
I decided to do a comparison to show you how superior Freddie’s flowers are by contrast to similar supermarket flowers. Firstly, Freddie’s packaging doesn’t even compare to buying supermarket flowers. I used to buy them in store so they would simply be wrapped in plastic and that would be it. However, even when buying a similar supermarket bunch of flowers, the experience is nowhere near as enjoyable. Most noticeably the Freddie’s package is MUCH larger and contains way more flowers. Freddie’s are packaged beautifully (with no plastic), two sachets of flower food and pretty information cards. The cards provide a step-by-step guide on how to arrange and take care of the flowers with gorgeous imagery. Each time they arrive I get a little burst of excitement to open the box and see what’s inside! As you can see below, the supermarket information cards are far less pleasing.

Secondly, in terms of value for money Freddie’s are a no brainer. Freddie’s give you so many flowers – the bunch is so much bigger and more varied than supermarket offerings. Usually I get so many flowers in my Freddie’s bunch that I can take some stems to create a smaller vase for my bedroom. The supermarket bunch (from Waitrose) cost exactly £25 which was the same as Freddie’s (with no discount). Freddie’s orders go directly to the growers and the flowers are cut to order which means they have very little waste and the savings definitely meant I got more bang for my buck!
This is probably the winning factor for me, in that Freddie’s flowers last at least two weeks! Supermarket flowers usually look great but they begin to wilt after a few days and I’m lucky if I can get a week out of them. In this box I bought to show as a comparison, you can even see that the stems are wilting before I have even taken them out of the box. Some of the flower stems were even broken and unusable which was really disappointing. If you take into consideration the quality and how long they last, there is just no competition in my view!

Essentially, I am here to tell you that Freddie’s really is the best way to buy flowers (for you or for someone else!) and to share my joy in this discovery! As someone who used to buy flowers from the supermarket I have completely and irreversibly been converted to Freddie’s and I can guarantee with no hesitation that you will be too!
